Only a positive mind can create a positive life.
Really? That’s what positivity is all about?
Eh! No. Not really.
But, it sure pays to be optimistic and doesn’t hurt either.
Big leaders, sportspersons, brilliant scientists and most great people have been optimistic throughout their lives.
It’s not always easy to look on the brighter side of life.
That doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
People tend to be positive when they’re on a smooth path ( in your comfort zone). But how do you manoeuvre the steering when you need to change your path and how do you change gears when you must emotionally charge yourself.
All it takes is a choice and courage. (Given that you already possess the understanding/knowledge). Rest is training and practice.
You can choose to be your own coach.
Below are some tips and practices that you can undertake to mind program yourself on positivity and success in life.
“Love your Enemies, for they tell you your Faults” – Benjamin Franklin
Before thinking about how the world looks at you, how you look at yourself matters.
Create a sketch of yourself (literally) and list down your key strengths (personal qualities of yours that you are genuinely proud of deep down), no matter how simple they sound. This activity can help you relate to yourself in all honesty and develop a self-esteem.
For example, under your sketch, you could write “committed, creative, communicator, goal-oriented, dedicated.”
Once you are done with this, take this sketch and paste it on a wall in your room so that this picture reminds you of your core strengths and serves as a reference point.
Letting Be Taking Control
Once you are clear about who you are, it is easier to take control of your attitude. You certainly wouldn’t like your gems to get dirty, would you?
Just to explain, if you’ve penned “dedicated” as one of your key strengths, then you should make it a point giving your best to any project or goal your take up.
Getting distracted in between will be a “costly behavioural mistake” which means you’re tampering with one of your assets.
So, the idea is to protect and nurture your assets.
Not everything is under your control and that is absolutely fine.
Do what you can with what you have and where you are!!
“No one can do everything, but everyone can do something” – Max Lucado
Compliment your Weakness Complement your Weakness
Compliment your weakness = complaining = unhappy
Complement your weakness = working on them = happy
Everyone has weaknesses and strengths but not many complement them. When you complement your weakness (to your strengths), you upgrade. When you compliment it, you degrade.
Complementing, here, means working on it.Complimenting, on the other hand (we have fingers), means avoiding it.
Jot down your three big weaknesses that hold you back from achieving your dream. Pen those down.Say, number one is laziness, number two is low self-esteem, and number three is getting hurt easily and thus giving up. Once you have penned your weaknesses down, start finding answers for them in one word.
Like in this case, answer to laziness is “enjoy what you do”, answer to low self-esteem is ” become what you want to be” and answer to giving up easily is “criticism is there because it wants to see me at the top”.
Now, just like you pasted your sketch on the wall, do the same with these answers but write them on different strips. Three different strips so that each thought is fully empowered in its space and when you look at it, it truly reaches you and stays with you.
Set Goals Achieve Goals
Most of your work, around dealing with yourself, is done.
Now start assessing your present, and goals in your near future.Take a pen and paper once again and start jotting them down and create a goal plan for yourself.
Be committed to achieving your goals. It is more important than setting one.Once you get through a stage, celebrate by rewarding yourself. Reward yourself with every level up!
share express your happiness.
At all times there is someone or a tribe of some people who like to see you do well and hear happy news from you. They could be your genuine friends, teammates, bosses, employers or business/life partners. Moreover, have zero tolerance for low-grade conversations.
If you happen to enter such a conversation zone, simply exit from there.
Understand your industry or your subject line.
Reading isn’t as important as understanding and applying what you read. Read less, apply more.Soaking in more information than you can apply can be overwhelming.
Choose only the information that creates a positive vibe. Use negativity and channelize it into positivity.Right understanding helps channelize negativity into positivity.
Experience and knowledge create the right understanding.
Experience comes from applying.
Get committed to applying more than you learn. It gives a boost to your self-esteem.
“Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” -Albert Einstein
Be Yourself Be in Love with Yourself
Love yourself. If you don’t, who will?
Take care of yourself.
When you are playing the role of your life, you must look your part.
This simply means in all the chasing of dreams, spend some time loving yourself and your body.
If you love yourself, it reflects in your actions
You must love yourself to attract blessings.
“Don’t get so busy in making a living that you forget to make a life” – Dolly Parton
Wear a smile.
It exudes much more than you think.
A smile is the expression of richness and confidence.
When you smile at someone in a shop in a random group conversation, it shows you are people friendly.
When you smile at your new neighbor, it gives him hope.
When you smile at your employee, it gives him inspiration and blessing.
Smile. It opens doors to your prosperity and blessings. Be wise in smiling.
“Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
So, in the above easy ways, you can build your positivity by aligning positive thoughts with your true inner self. Most people focus on dreaming big, but they don’t think deeply about their core strengths.
Those who do, make it big.
